The pupil will be entered for public music examinations only with the consent of the teacher and parent. Pupils are strongly recommended to attend aural lessons during the two terms prior to an examination. These are currently available in the Music School for which a small charge is made.
Exam Accompaniment
All candidates (with the exception of guitarists, harpists, pianists and some percussionists) will require an accompanist in the examination, for which there is a fee. The fee covers a rehearsal and the exam time itself. Some instrumental teachers like to accompany their own pupils or we can arrange the services of the official Music School accompanist; the fee payable is the same regardless. As the music for the higher grades demands considerably more practice and rehearsal time a sliding scale will apply.
Where an accompanist is required, parents will be asked on the form to tick the box stating whether their child’s teacher will accompany them or if they would like the Music School to arrange an accompanist.
