Music Exhibitions

Music Exhibitions are being offered to existing pupils of Loughborough Grammar School and Loughborough High School; this includes those pupils new to the Schools in September.

Music Scholarships will still be offered at the point of entry but only to those pupils offering two instruments as well as the ability to contribute to the choral work of the Music School.

Music Exhibitions are tenable for one year at a time and will not automatically continue to the following year; indeed the number of awards available each year will not be constant. Exhibitions will be to the value of either full or half remission of music tuition fees at the LES Music School; priority will go to those pupils who have their lessons at the LES Music School or who indicate that they will do so if successful in winning an award. All award holders are expected to contribute wholeheartedly to the musical life of the schools; indeed alongside musical promise we are looking to reward those pupils who make valuable contributions (or in the case of new pupils, commit to doing so) to our ensembles.

Applicants must play one piece, no longer than four minutes long, which shows their musicality and attention to detail (playing a difficult piece they have just started learning is not advised). The level expected at each age group is given below: it is not necessary to have taken the grade indicated, nor is success at that level a sign that an award will automatically be given.

Year 7/8 - Grade 5
Year 9/10 - Grade 6/7
Year 11-13 - Grade 8

Deadlines for 2012-2013 applications will be published in due course.
